In the first game in the newly renovated gymnasium in the Health & Wellness Center, Clipper Volleyball beat Green River in 3 sets.
After Green River hung close and battled in the third set, South Puget Sound was able to keep the lead all the way to a 25-20 victory.
The Clippers were led by Freshman middle blocker Khalia Craig with 11 kills while teammate Jahnessa Hill added 9. Hill also had 5 service aces. Freshman setter Emily Snider led the team with 30 assists.
"It felt great to come out and get our first conference win tonight," said head coach Tusalava Kuaea. "I was proud of the way the girls finished. We know we still have areas to improve on, but this was a good way to start the first half of the conference season."
SPS improves to 2-12 on the season, 1-1 in conference play. The Clippers next travel to Centralia for another conference match and play two more after that on the road before returning home for a match against Pierce on October 13.
