Jaynee Tanner Named NWAC Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week for February 16-22
South Puget Sound Community College would like to congratulate Lady Clipper’s Jaynee Tanner in being named the NWAC’s Athlete of the Week for Women’s Basketball for the week of February 16-22!
“Jaynee has completely developed as a player. We made this joke that she was our third post coming in when we recruited her,” said Women’s Basketball Head Coach Darah Vining. “The way she has developed, not a lot of people see it but she loves the game so much and she holds everybody accountable to that same caliber.”
Tanner averaged 29.5 points and 13 rebounds in the Lady Clippers' two wins against Centralia and Pierce. In the game against the Trailblazers, Tanner finished with a 38-point, 15-rebound performance on the road, which marked her 23rd double-double of the season! She also shot over 56% from the field and 80% from beyond the arc, and had an average of 3 steals per game.
Coach Vining continued, “We are better because of her, and I think that every time she is rewarded with awards like this it’s because of the work and dedication she puts in, but also the amazing team around her that champions her to be able to make those things happen.”
Great job, Jaynee!
