The Clipper Men's Soccer team drop a crucial game against Highline, losing by a score of 4-1, and fall further back of third-place Tacoma in the NWAC West Region standings.
It was a rough go for our lads on Saturday as they came into this game playing magnificent football as of late, with their chemistry and communication being the best it has been all season. They would need every bit of that skill if they looked to take on the #2 ranked team in all of the league.
The game got off to a shaky start as Highline managed a goal in the 8th minute and followed that up seven minutes later with another one to go up 2-0 in the first 15 minutes. The team was able to stabilize and hold off the Thunderbird attack until the whistle signified the end of the half.
Things did not fare well for the Clips in the second half as two more goals from the T-Birds in the 66th and 75th minute ballooned their lead to 4-0. Freshman Midfielder Sebas San Elias got el gol de honra in the 79th minute for the Clippers off a Djibril Corrielus feed, but the late rally for the Clippers didn't go beyond the first goal.
The Clippers now drop to 4-6-1 and with Tacoma getting results to go their way, the lads' chances of making the NWAC playoffs are fading away.
Next up is a matchup against Centralia to end the homestand on Wednesday, October 22, followed by a trip to Puyallup to take on Pierce on Saturday, October 25.
