No. 5 Clippers knock off No. 7 Tritons, complete weekend sweep at Kingsbury Classic
EDMONDS, Wash. — Following comeback victories on night one and two of the 2025 Coach Kingsbury Classic, the No. 5–ranked South Puget Sound Clippers faced their toughest test of the weekend against the No. 7 Edmonds Tritons on Dec. 7. The Tritons entered the contest 5-1 and looked to establish their trademark pressure defense early. SPSCC handled the early pressure before applying some of their own. Freshman Elijah "Jack" Mack delivered an outstanding first half, scoring 24 points while showcasing his ability to score at all three levels. Mack also rebounded well and repeatedly found himself in transition opportunities early in the contest.
The Clippers ratcheted up their defensive intensity, forcing eight first-half steals and 16 for the game. SPSCC converted those turnovers into a season-high 34 points off turnovers and a season-high 105 points overall. In addition to Mack's scoring outburst, seven other players reached the scoring column, including sophomore guard Caleb Bowden, who added an efficient 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting.
Edmonds cut the Clipper lead to one point early in the second half before a 9-0 SPSCC run pushed the game back to double digits. The Clippers never looked back, cruising to a 105-91 victory and securing their second win over a ranked opponent this season.
Mack finished with a career- and game-high 32 points and was joined by four other Clippers in double figures. Sophomore guard Alex Tichenor sparked SPSCC off the bench with 12 points in 14 minutes. Nakalayah Fabello added 15 points, Bowden finished with 18, Jamaal Elliott scored 13 and David Boschdemont Esteban contributed 8 points and a team-high 7 rebounds.
