The Clippers continue their busy April with the signing of Tyke Thompson from West Salem High School in Oregon. Thompson, a 6’7 wing, will join the Clippers after an outstanding prep career that saw him rack up 42 total wins over his junior and senior seasons to go along with two appearances in the Oregon 6A state quarterfinals.
After visiting campus on April 9th, Thompson verbally committed on Saturday April 14th before signing his official NWAC Letter of Intent on Wednesday night at home in Salem. “Tyke has some special tools and a ton of potential. We’re going to push him really hard because he’s got such a high ceiling. He’ll help us right away with his ability to shoot and his length, but he can do so much more and we’re excited to see him develop” said Clipper Head Coach Aaron Landon.
Thompson joins Anthony Braggs (Tacoma, WA) as the first incoming freshmen in the class of 2018. Coach Landon added that they had tracked Thompson since last summer. “Coach Ty was really impressed with Tyke after watching play in the Rose City Showcase in Portland last June," said Landon. "He went to Oregon throughout the season and did a great job keeping track of him. Both of us are happy Tyke is going to be a Clipper."
